I was lucky enough to secure a place in the Tokyo Marathon 2015. In 2014 there were over 300,000 entries. Only 35,000 of these were sucessful (thats a 11.6% chance) and an even smaller proportion were International runners like me. My first day back training was today. For this race I’ve decided to approach my training with a focus more on a PB than enjoying the occasion.
My next 3 races are the easiest of the Majors. I hope to redeem myself in Tokyo after I missed my target finish time in Boston. Tokyo, Berlin and London are notoriously flat to my focus is purely speed, conditioning and consistency.
I’ve chosen TrainingPeaks this time around to help me build my miles in the coming 16 weeks and this time I’ll be making some interesting adjustments to my diet but I’ll save that for a future post. Here goes 16 weeks of running in the rain dark and ice.
Day 1 Report : Stomach pains form eating a creamy Vol-au-vont at dinner. No carb loading. Probably dehydrated after a long day in the office stressed and hitting the coffee. 4.14mi at a 8:27min pace. Room for improvement and lessons learnt early.
